Abstract : In this work, 2 systems are designed in a single simulink model. 1 st system represents the protection of motor against six different fault parameters. These six fault parameters are- over voltage, over current, voltage unbalance, current unbalance, winding temperature and low voltage. If any of these faults occurs in the system, a delay time is calculated according to the fault strength using fuzzy logic. If the fault persists for a longer time than the computed delay time, the system sends a trip command to stop the motor. In classical systems, if delay times are adjusted once, they remain constant irrespective of the strength of fault. In such a case, if short duration faults occur then this would cease the motor operation without waiting. It leads to the disruption of production line in industry. On the other hand, in case of high strength fault, if system waits for too long, the motor can be damaged. So, delay times must be adjusted dynamically and optimally. The 1 st system model provides more reliable and sensitive protection system using fuzzy logic rules and 2 nd system represents the fault classification system. To repair after stopping of motor or disruption of production line, it becomes necessary to know that which fault has stopped the motor. So, a system is designed which indicates the type of fault occurred and faulty phase of the power supply.
