Abstract : Over the past several years, the need for Omni-directional (in the azimuth plane) antennas with widebeams (in the elevation plane) for wireless applications increased tremendously due to Wireless LAN, MAN and wireless networks and access points, covering many frequency bands from 0.8 GHz-6GHz in a variety of configurations. These antennas are expected to provide of high gain. MIMO antennas provide excellent resilience to fading and other propagation disturbances. In this work, 2x2 MIMO Omni-directional Microstrip antennas for 5 Ghz band have beendesigned to provide high gain and very high bandwidth. In this work, 6, 10 and 17 sectionsOmnidirectional Microstrip Antenna design based on double substrate board and separator materials in various combinations have been designed and the results are analyzed. Higher number of array sections are used to achieve the high gain. Collinear arrays (CoA), have series fed, in-phase feeding to the radiating elements that are in a straight line. These havemuch lower coupling effect between the elements and has a typically omnidirectional radiation without much of degradation due to the feeding network. The final OMA design for the 5GHz range frequency achieves 19.92 dBi gain and 1.61 GHz bandwidth (4.08-5.69 Ghz). The design has been simulated using Ansoft HFSS software, and the results are analyzed. Key Words - Omni Directional, OMA, Collinear array (CoA), Double Board, Series Fed array.
