Abstract : This paper proposes a fuzzy terminal sliding mode controller (FTSMC) for maximum power point tracking (MPPT)
of photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems. Finite time convergence of the proposed system is ensured. The proposed
system utilizes a Mamdani fuzzy inference system (FIS) to tune the control gain. As a result, the chattering problem, which
exists in classic terminal sliding mode controllers (CSMC), is avoided. A CTSMC is considered in order to compare the
results of the proposed system. Simulation results are used to evaluate the robustness of the proposed system. It is shown that
the proposed system is robust to system uncertainties, environment changes and load variations.
