Abstract : Unfortunately, current standards and protocols of Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are severely inadequate to achieve the architectural design goals of wireless backbone mesh networks because they do not meet evolving network performance and cost requirements. Optimal placement of gateways provides acceptable network bandwidth for mesh users with reasonable investment costs. The focus in this paper is on the performance optimization for a formed Backbone WMN by improving the load balance between different gateway clusters (domains).
