Abstract : Abstract - The aim of this study is to analyze a 2x2 microstrip patch array antenna at an operating frequency of 2.4 GHz. The proposed rectangular patch microstrip array antenna is basically a phased array consisting of "4" elements (rectangular patch antennas) arranged in a rectangular grid. Three different feeding techniques are being studied. These are sequential rotational feeds, with proposed geometries illustrated and a dielectric constant of 6.15 permittivity; coaxial feeding and microstrip line feeding, with a dielectric constant of 4.5 permittivity. The feeding techniques play an important role in impedance matching, which will lead to maximum power transmission. The characteristic impedance of a transmission line is 50 ohms. By the maximum power transfer theorem, the patch antenna should be fed at a point where the input impedance is 50 ohms for maximum input power. For a 2x2 microstrip patch array antenna, a detailed study and analysis of the SR feed, co-axial feed, and microstrip line feed was performed. The 2x2 microstrip patch array antenna with SR feed is used in satellite communication applications, whereas the coaxial feed and microstrip line feed are used in Bluetooth, Wlan, and Wimax applications. The design for each feeding technique is simulated and studied using the HFSS software. Keywords - Microstrip Patch Antenna, Feeding Technique, Line Feed, Coaxial Feed and SR Feed
