Abstract : Wireless communication is now-a-days area of growth and advance technical modifications. As technology advances people are more adapt to this modified techniques, this increases the demand for wireless services and necessity of frequency spectrum which is limited. To improve the system capacity of the limited frequency spectrum, there should be efficient use of available channels. For that purpose an efficient channel assignment scheme should be used to allocate channels to cells in such a way that to reduce the channel interference, in order to maximize quality of service. In this paper, a Hybrid Channel Assignment technique using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm is proposed for cellular Network. Hybrid Channel Allocation method using PSO is proposed to solve the channel allocation problem in order to maximize the channel capacity which can occupy large coverage area. The simulation results show that the proposed technique is effective to reduce interference. Keywords- Cellular communication network, Channel assignment problem, Hybrid Channel Allocation (HCA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Fitness Progress.
