Review on Artificial Intelligence Based Optimized Controllers Used IND-Facts Devices For Power Quality Improvement

Abstract
Abstract - In the recent years, many advancements have been taking place in the power electronics technology. Nowadays consumers are very much aware of the electricity market and they are demanding a power with high quality. In order to satisfy the demands of the consumers by increasing the quality of power, custom power devices have been developed. They are power electronic static controllers commonly known as Flexible AC Transmission System(FACTS). Although the concept of FACTS was developed originally for transmission networks, this has been extended for the last years for the improvement of power quality in the distribution systems. Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM), Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) and Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) are the most used DFACTS (Distributed Flexible AC Transmission systems) devices in the distribution side. From the research history of this FACTS devices, most of the researches are taking place in the controller section to improve the performance of the overall system. The recent trends and advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence have led to the development of AI based optimized controllers for DFACTS devices for voltage regulation, harmonic reduction and power quality improvement. This paper presents an extensive survey on AI based optimized controllers used in DFACTS devices for voltage regulation, harmonic reduction and power quality improvement. Keywords - DFACTS, Artificial Intelligence Based optimized controllers, power quality improvement, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
