A Novel Approach Based On Noise And Parameter Estimation For Image Enhancement

Abstract
An Image Enhancement system for noisy images is presented based on noise and parameter estimation. The designed system consists of blocks cascaded functioning as directional smoothers and sharpeners which are managed with the help of parameters set. As parameters are based on noise estimation, the Gaussian noise standard deviation is estimated dependingupon piecewise linear filter. Hence simple function is used for estimating parameter values for enhancing the noisy image. Experiments with Images captured from digital cameras and computer simulated outputs are presented for the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
